Oscar winning actor Sean Penn, you may know him from his roles in Milk, Mystic River, I Am Sam, etc, has been charged with misdemeanor battery and vandalism and he faces up to 18 months in jail. I bet you are wondering who he attacked, aren't you? Well on October 2, 2009, Sean Penn allegedly kicked a photojournalist (a.k.a paparazzi) in the leg and smashed his camera. For those of you who know about the actor's violent history with the paparazzi, you probably aren't surprised. He does have a habit of losing his cool whenever the paparazzi are involved. Let me catch you up to speed here:
1. In 1986, Penn was arrested for attempted murder for dangling a photographer over a 9th story balcony by his feet. However, he and his assistant broke out of prison and escaped the country. It turns out later he was pardoned.
2. In 1987, he was sentenced 60 days in jail for attacking the paparazzi while filming a movie.
3. In 2006, Penn had an altercation with the paparazzi at his brother's funeral.
The list goes on and on for this guy. He just really doesn't like the paparazzi.
Now what I don't quite understand . . . if these photojournalists know that Sean Penn is violent towards the paparazzi, why do they go anywhere near him? Why not stay away so that everyone can be safe?
